Galway Bay fm newsroom – Holy Rosary College in Mountbellew has officially opened a 6 million euro school extension to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary.
The multi-million euro investment includes a brand new building with specially designed rooms for art, music, business, woodwork, construction, science labs, home economics and a library.
It also includes a new purpose built sports hall, outdoor sports facilities, a large assembly hall with canteen and a courtyard garden with an art installation.
The opening ceremony was performed in the last few minutes by former principal Sr. Dympna Stack, who oversaw the takeover of the school by the Sisters of Christian Retreat in 1965.
Holy Rosary Students will give a special performance of ‘The Sound of Music’ at the college this evening at 8 to celebrate the opening.
Principal Maureen Walsh says the new facilities are a dream come true.
