Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two Aran Islanders are travelling to Brussels today to continue the campaign for a fixed-wing air service to the islands.
Enda Conneely and Paddy Crowe will be accompanied by Independent MEP Marian Harkin at a meeting tomorrow morning (Tue) to explain the tender criteria for an air service to the Aran Islands.
An interim contract with long-time air service provider Aer Arann will come to an end in October.
MEP Harkin says she is facilitating the meeting to find out whether the Irish Government is correct in insisting that a helicopter service would replace the current airplane service.
