Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council is issuing advice to voters following changes to electoral divisions in Galway East.
Under the Electoral Amendment Dáil Constituencies Act 2013, some townlands have been transferred from Galway East to the new Dáil constituency of Roscommon-Galway.
Voters who normally cast their vote at the following polling stations are reminded that they are now included in the Dáil Constituency of Roscommon-Galway:
Ahascragh National School, Creggs N.S., Ardeevin N.S., Glenamaddy N.S., Ballaghlea N.S., Glinsk N.S., Ballinasloe (Boys) N.S., Gortaleam N.S., Ballygar N.S., Kilglass N.S., Ballymoe (Fr Flanagan Centre), Kilkerrin N.S., Caltra N.S., Killure N.S., Castleblakeney N.S., Williamstown N.S., Castlefrench N.S., Windfield N.S., and Clontuskert N.S.
Dunmore National School and Mountbellew National School will host Polling Booths for both Galway East and Roscommon-Galway.
This is because the new constituency boundaries impact in particular on these towns and their outskirts.
Polling staff on the day will direct voters to the correct polling booth for their constituency.
In some areas where voters are remaining in the constituency of Galway East, they may have been assigned a new polling station to where they had voted previously.
Galway County Council has written directly to over 10,000 voters along the new constituency boundary of Galway East and Roscommon-Galway to remind people of any changes.
Voters are advised to check their polling cards and take note of their assigned polling station.
All stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Friday.
