Over six million euro for storm damaged roads across Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Over six million euro is to be invested in roads across Galway under the severe weather allocation fund.

The money is part of an 85 million euro national fund, which will be used to repair damage caused by recent flooding and winter storms.

The storms which battered Galway in recent months have resulted in damage to transport infrastructure including bridges, local and secondary roads.

6 million euro has been allocated to Galway County Council, while a further 16 thousand euro has been allocated to the City Council.

Minister Paschal Donohoe says the money will be made available immediately to local authorities to allow them begin work.

Galway East Fine Gael candidate Ciaran Cannon says the funding will improve accessibility for local residents, farmers and businesses.
