Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board will take over the running of a previously religious-run national school from today.
Lecarrow National School in Roscommon is one of four schools which is transferring to a non-denominational model.
The schools were facing closure due to declining enrolments.
The Steiner National School in Knocknacarra is also transferring to GRETB this week.
Director of Schools with the GRETB, Tomás Mac Pháidín says it’s a momentous day.
